10-degree rear axle steering

For enhanced agility, stability and maneuverability, electromechanical actuators can steer the rear wheels up to 10 degrees based on driving speed and dynamics. Above 37 mph, the rear wheels can steer up to 3 degrees in either direction, to boost rear-wheel grip, cornering response, and control in evasive moves. At lower speeds and when parking, steering up to 10 degrees opposite the front wheels can cut the turning circle by some 36 inches, for compact-car maneuverability in a large and spacious SUV.

Multicontour rear seats with massage

Like their front-cabin counterparts, multicontour rear seats feature adjustable lumbar supports, side bolsters and shoulder supports for custom-tailored supports. Even more rewarding is a range of massage programs that can soothe the lower back, some including a "hot stone" treatment providing focused heat and massage together. There's even a calf massage feature.

12.3-inch OLED front passenger display

With the MBUX Hyperscreen, the front passenger is provided their own display for entertainment, comfort settings and more. They can also operate the navigation system, allowing the passenger to serve as co-pilot. The 12.3-inch Organic LED (OLED) touchscreen allows for individual content and up to seven user profiles. And when there's no front passenger seated, the screen can transform into a decorative element by displaying a blanket of animated stars.

4-zone automatic climate control

Four individual zones offer personalized comfort to each side of the front and rear cabins. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes sun and humidity sensors, a dust/pollen filter, and an activated charcoal filter that automatically recirculates cabin air upon detecting a significant increase in smog. The in-dash controls can adjust all zones, while rear passengers can use the detachable MBUX tablet in the center console.

Active Brake Assist

Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.

Traffic Sign Assist

Traffic Sign Assist can detect posted speed-limit signs and, along with information in the navigation system's map database, display the limit on the dash. It can also alert you when you exceed the limit.

Active Blind Spot Assist

At most driving speeds, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area on either side of you, and alert you by illuminating an icon in the appropriate side mirror. If you activate a turn signal while a vehicle is detected, it can sound a warning tone while flashing the mirror icon. And if you begin to change lanes, advanced active technology can help guide the car back by selectively braking individual wheels while a display appears in the instrument cluster.
