From its bedplate to its chain-driven water pump and innovative materials, the AMG V8 combines light weight with lasting strength. Aluminum screws, zirconium-alloy 4-valve heads, new components precision-crafted from magnesium and advanced composites, and a highly rigid sand-cast block all team up for extreme performance during seconds of elation or years of enjoyment. The result is also a staggering specific output of 118 hp/liter of displacement.
The Mercedes-AMG GT transaxle incorporates the transmission and differential at the rear axle, a major contributor to the car's ideal 47:53 front/rear dynamic balance. A highly rigid, extraordinarily lightweight carbon-fiber driveshaft directly transmits the engine's massive torque to the transaxle without lag or loss.
A pair of aluminum paddles strategically positioned behind the upper steering-wheel spokes allows you to manually upshift and downshift the 7-speed DCT transmission with just a flick of your fingers. With any automatic shift mode selected, using the paddles temporarily engages manual shifting with no need to change modes. Automatic shifting is restored after a few seconds of paddle inactivity, though it'll hold your gear if you're mid-corner or deliberately engine-braking down a grade.
A twist of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT knob fine-tunes the car's character. Each mode adapts the throttle maps, gear changes and more from Comfort to Sport+. Key systems like the adaptive suspension and dynamic exhaust also offer individual controls. An Individual mode lets you create a mode all your own.
Directly inspired by racing, the deeply contoured AMG Performance seats feature integrated head restraints with aluminum accents and AMG badges. In addition to the customary power adjustments, the substantial side bolsters in the cushion and backrest are also power-adjustable for optimal lateral support. A 3-position memory system for each seat also stores the power steering column and side mirror settings for the driver. Three-stage heating is standard.
Black Piano Lacquer adds an extravagant excitement to the console surround. Gloss Black rings encircle the air vents, while soft-finish black trim is inlayed between the vents and for the center console insert.
Three buttons on the rear view mirror can be programmed to operate many types of garage door openers, security gates and other HomeLink®-compatible features.
The racing-inspired flat-bottom AMG Performance steering wheel is hand-stitched in Nappa leather. Perforated Nappa leather side grips add a detail that is both visually sporty and a tactile treat.

Though fully conceived and developed by AMG, the Mercedes-AMG GT body structure and safety systems conform to the industry-leading standards of Mercedes-Benz. In addition to its advanced restraints and active safety systems, the vehicle underwent the full testing regimen during its development, from countless computer simulations with its aluminum spaceframe and body to an extensive series of actual crash tests.
A system of eight advanced air bags is designed to offer protection in a variety of accident types. Dual-stage front air bags are augmented by knee air bags for both the driver and passenger. And each seating position is provided with a side-impact thorax/pelvis air bag and curtain-type head protection air bag.
Radar-based technology alerts you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, the system can also initiate braking automatically from speeds up to 65 mph.
During low-speed maneuvers, PARKTRONIC's ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers detect nearby objects within the system's field of view. Audible signals and illuminated displays in the cabin help you navigate tight spaces with confidence.
