The 221-hp 2.0L inline-4 engine combines turbocharging with numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves in milliseconds. Its twin-scroll turbo and CAMTRONIC variable valve lift help keep all 258 lb-ft of torque on tap from just 1,800 rpm. Clever CONICSHAPE cylinders slash friction to help reduce wear and fuel consumption.
A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the touch of a button. Three modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop. A fourth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
Advanced electromechanical power steering delivers quicker response in corners, easier maneuvering at low speeds, along with precise on-center feel and straight-line stability.
Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps help get the GLB-Class noticed, for added safety and in modern style. Their distinctive angular design accentuates the subtle forward lean of the grille.
Sleek and purposeful, the roof rails accommodate a variety of available accessory attachments for carrying bikes, surfboards, skis, snowboards and cargo carriers. They're crafted from elegant aluminum that adds modern style even when you're not using them.
You'll love how it listens. The Mercedes-Benz User Experience is your own in-car personal assistant. Just say what you want, and your wish is literally your GLB's command. MBUX can quietly respond to your touch, too.
A large touchpad controller on the console lets you operate the in-dash central touchscreen while your hand rests comfortably at your side. The large touchpad works a lot like your smartphone, including multitouch gestures like swiping through menus and pinching to zoom. The touchpad surface includes dedicated Back, Skip and Home virtual keys, and even recognizes handwriting. Adjacent one-touch hard keys access major functions and include a programmable "favorite" button.
Delivering remarkably crisp, clear audio quality for both AM and FM radio, HD Radio® technology can increase the number of stations available to you with no subscription or fee.
State-of-the-art USB-C connectors allow plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. A total of four ports are provided in the first and second seating rows.
The steering column is manually adjustable in-out and up-down to help you find your ideal driving position and view of the instruments.
The 2nd-row seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, offering a variety of cargo and passenger configurations. Folding the center section independently can help you fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. The seatbacks are adjustable to multiple positions from a comfortably gentle recline to more upright settings to add cargo length while still seating passengers. The second row also slides fore-aft up to 5.5 inches for a range of legroom and cargo space.
The roomy 3-passenger 2nd-row seat includes a center armrest for added comfort when only one or two passengers are riding along. Built-in cupholders are included.

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
Rain-sensing windshield wipers can automatically adjust the intermittent wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also help detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
