Active Steering Assist

Active Steering Assist can be engaged whenever you're using DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control. Using cameras and other sensors to detect lane markings, guardrails and other vehicles, Active Steering Assist can help the driver keep the vehicle centered in its lane while cruising, even in gentle curves. When lane markings aren't visible, it can even follow the vehicle ahead. Enhancements can improve lane centering on highways or follow the road edge on non-striped roadways.

Evasive Steering Assist

This breakthrough system can instantly activate if you initiate an evasive maneuver while the vehicle's sensors detect an impending risk of collision with a pedestrian in your path. The system can provide a calculated steering force to assist you in executing the move, then help ease the straightening of the vehicle in the adjacent lane after the maneuver.

Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function

At speeds up to 75 mph, radar and advanced cameras can scan ahead to help detect a potential collision with vehicles approaching or crossing from either side of an intersection, or with a pedestrian in the car's path, even when signaling for a turn. When the driver responds to the alert by braking, it can increase the brake force to help prevent such an accident or help reduce its severity. If the driver fails to brake, it can automatically initiate braking.

Active Speed Limit Assist

Active Speed Limit Assist can detect posted speed-limit signs and, along with information in the navigation system's map database, automatically adapt your cruising speed accordingly. As you first engage DISTRONIC on a drive, the system can also set your cruising speed to match the posted speed with just a single tap of the cruise-control lever.
