2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

Mild hybrid electrification advances the 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. A 48-volt Integrated Starter-Generator allows fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for some formerly belt-driven components such as the water pump, reducing weight and enhancing underhood packaging. In addition, the electric assist can generate additional, gas-free power and torque (up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft) for immediate response.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. A range of modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) can alter the throttle response, shift points, steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop system. A separate "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting. The AMG Line also adds a Sport+ mode.

4-wheel multilink suspension

The 4-wheel independent suspension features a 4-link front axle and further evolution of the standard-setting 5-arm multilink rear design. Both employ numerous lightweight, highly rigid forged aluminum components.

LED headlamps and taillamps

With longer life, quicker illumination and beams that approximate daylight even more closely than xenon headlamps, multi-element LED headlamps can enhance both vision and visibility during nighttime driving. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. The LED taillamps feature a distinctive horizontal design.

64-color LED ambient lighting

A network of LEDs can create not just a soothing ambience in the cabin, but one you can alter to suit your mood, or even create one. Along with 64 individually selectable colors, variable brightness and three lighting zones, 10 color moods can combine or sequence colors.

Power tilt/sliding tinted glass sunroof

At the touch of a button, the tinted glass sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the sky. An express feature fully opens or closes the roof with a single touch, and a manual sliding sunshade helps block out unwanted sunlight.

Both the standard SmartKey and KEYLESS-GO® let you open and close the windows and sunroof from outside the car with a simple press-and-hold action of buttons on the remote or the driver's door handle. When parking, it's an easy way to close up the car after you exit. And when you return to your car on a hot day, the feature lets you air out the cabin and even activate the optional ventilated front seats before you enter.

Power front seats with memory

Intuitive, seat-shaped controls help you and your front passenger find your ideal seating positions, including 4-way power lumbar support. A memory system for each front seat recalls three stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power steering column and side mirror positions.

FrontBass system

A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the C-Class bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. In addition to providing rich, precise bass throughout the interior, the design saves weight and frees up space in the cabin and doors.

USB-C charging port

A state-of-the-art USB-C connector in the center console allows plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. Providing 15W maximum combined power, it's also suitable for data transfer with the vehicle. A 12V power outlet is also provided at the front of the console.

Rearview camera

For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera can display a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen can help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 8 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then help alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

7 air bags

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags and combined thorax/pelvic bags for the driver and front passenger, plus a knee air bag for the driver, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows.

Brake Assist (BAS)

Brake Assist (BAS®) can sense emergency braking via the speed at which the driver presses the brake pedal and immediately apply maximum available power boost. Brake Assist can potentially reduce the overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by a common human tendency not to brake hard enough, soon enough. Letting up on the brake pedal releases Brake Assist.
