Generating 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, the 3.0L V6 combines twin turbos and numerous other advances to lower emissions and fuel consumption while increasing performance. In a single millisecond, the rapid multi-spark ignition can fire up to four times, while the high-pressure Direct Injection precisely tunes the ultra-fine fuel spray. A lightweight die-cast alloy block, widely variable valve timing, reduced friction, and clever "on-demand'' ancillary components further boost efficiency.
Engineered to ideally balance comfort and control, selective damping can automatically adjust the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. Valving inside each shock absorber are designed to firm up during stronger body motions for sharper handling feedback and stability, and reduce the damping rate during gentler motions for a smoother, more composed ride. A lowered ride height enhances stability and cornering as well as appearance.
Upgraded brake hardware includes perforated front brake discs, grasped by painted calipers featuring "Mercedes-Benz" lettering.
An advanced torque-vectoring system adds control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) detects understeer while cornering, Dynamic Cornering Assist applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in response, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.
Four individually tailored seats are an E-Class Cabriolet tradition. So is the driver focus of its advanced instruments and controls. With a wheelbase stretching more than four inches beyond the previous generation's, the newest E-Class Cabriolet offers greatly expanded rear legroom. It's a true four-seater, not only by the count of its seating positions, but by the measures that count even more: comfort, craftsmanship and contentment for all aboard.
Place and answer calls, and even access select phonebooks without taking your hands off the steering wheel with standard Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free calling. Pairing your Bluetooth-compatible phone with the vehicle is simpler than ever. Then, just leave your phone in your pocket and enjoy hands-free conversations over the audio system.
Electrically heated front seats quickly take the chill out of even the coldest day. Three levels of warming automatically step down after several minutes to the lowest setting.
A network of LEDs can create not just a soothing ambience in the cabin, but one you can alter to suit your mood, or even create one. An incredible 64 selectable colors and adjustable brightness let the driver control the atmosphere like never before. Edge-lighting glows from beneath the "waveform" dash trim and door armrests, and from behind the instrumentation screen panel. Even the footwells and door handles are bathed in a soft glow.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera displays a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.
An advanced system of 9 air bags offers 11-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags for driver and front passenger, a driver's knee air bag, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard. Side-impact air bags are also provided for each rear seating position.
Integrated behind each rear seating position, pop-up roll bars deploy within a third of a second of detecting an impending rollover, to help preserve occupant space.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
