The system uses data and the driver activity to deduce whether the lane has been left intentionally or unintentionally. If the vehicle leaves its lane unintentionally, the system gives a warning by pulsating vibrations of the steering wheel. This prompts the driver to make a steering correction.
Blind Spot Assist recognizes vehicles in the blind spot using two short-range radar sensors located in the rear bumper. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red triangle warning appears in the exterior mirror. Should the driver operate the blinker for a lane change despite this visual warning, the triangle symbol starts to flash and a double warning tone is sounded additionally.
