A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Four modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, ECO Start/Stop, and available AIRMATIC® suspension. A fifth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.
The 241-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine in the C 300 combines numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves in milliseconds. Its turbocharger spools up quickly to boost response, helping deliver all of the engine's 273 lb-ft of torque at just 1,300 rpm. Widely variable timing of all 16 valves and innovative 3-phase cooling team up to reduce emissions and raise your emotions.
Standard Torque Vectoring Brake technology provides additional control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle's Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) detects understeer while cornering, the system applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in compensation, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.
Crisp, bold and sporty 17-inch alloy wheels feature five sets of thin spokes with a shimmering machined finish and grey-painted inlays. They're outfitted with all-season Extended Mobility tires.
As rewarding as it is to have the key to a C-Class in your pocket or purse, you never need to take it out to start the car. Just step on the brake and push or the Start/Stop button on the dash, and you can be on your way.
The rear seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, offering a variety of cargo and passenger configurations. You can also fold the center section independently, to fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. The release handles are in the trunk, so they're conveniently located where you'll need them, and can be kept out of reach simply by valet-locking the trunk.
A pair of crisp, high-resolution screens use a high pixel count and automatic adjustment to ambient light to provide seamless, animated display of entertainment, information and vehicle settings. Atop the central dash, a 7" freestanding screen vividly presents audio, optional navigation and other features while keeping a sleek dash profile. In front of the driver, crisp analog gauges flank a color screen with illustrated menus and sharp text for driving systems, settings and more.
A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the C-Class bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. In addition to providing rich, precise bass throughout the interior, the design saves weight and frees up space in the cabin and doors.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
Shift into Reverse, and a rear-mounted camera displays a live 180-degree view of what's behind the vehicle on the screen atop the dashboard. Active on-screen guidelines indicate the car's projected path as you turn the steering wheel.
Arguably our most important passive safety feature, all four outboard 3-point seat belts are equipped with Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) and belt force limiters. If a collision exceeds a preset threshold, ETDs instantly remove slack from the seat belts. Belt force limiters allow a slight amount of give in the seat belts, to reduce the peak seat-belt forces on the occupant.
Radar-based technology alerts you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, the system can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, the system can also initiate braking automatically from speeds up to 65 mph, and can activate the features of PRE-SAFE®.
Greater use of aluminum helps the body shell of the C-Class elevate its overall rigidity, occupant protection and acoustic qualities while reducing weight, even with a significant increase in cabin space. Along with high-strength and ultra high-strength steel, the front fenders, hood, doors, trunk lid and roof panel are made of aluminum. Strategic reinforcements are made of die-cast, extruded and stamped aluminum, as well as heat-treated steel and laser-welded, varying-thickness steel.
