AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with hybrid assist

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 have returned with another Mercedes-AMG tradition: a technological leap forward. The lightweight, fully beltless engine is also electrified: An Integrated Starter-Generator can supply up to 21 hp and 184 lb-ft at certain rpm, allow gas-free coasting, and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo, the gas engine outputs 429 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque on its own, for quick, efficient response.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-6 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for formerly belt-driven components like the water pump and air-conditioning compressor. These advancements help reduce weight and enhance underhood packaging. In addition, the electric assist can generate additional, gas-free power and torque for immediate response.

AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive

A specially engineered version of 4MATIC can instantly vary the front-to-rear torque distribution in precise response to driving conditions and driver inputs. It can even send up to 100% to the rear wheels. An electromechanical coupling between the front and rear axles is controlled based on an elaborate matrix of driving mode, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, and available grip to help optimize handling and acceleration right up to the physical limits, on virtually any road or track surface.

AMG Performance Braking System

Track-ready yet comfortable and confident in everyday driving, the AMG Performance brakes feature perforated 15.75-inch front rotors and silver-painted, dual-piston fixed calipers. Unlike conventional cross-drilling, the discs are cast with the holes in place, enhancing strength and better resisting the stresses of high heat. The ventilated rear discs measure a sizable 13.58 inches and are fitted with substantial calipers.

Supersized AMG^® wheels fill the flared wheel arches and frame the substantial brake hardware. GLE 53 wheels are available in seven designs from 20 to 22 inches. The GLE 63 S starts at 21. Forged 22s are available on both models, in two colors.

Panorama roof

Offering sweeping skyward views to 1st- and 2nd-row passengers, this fully functional glass sunroof features a front panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide over the rear panel for an open-air feeling. Dual interior power shades allow occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. A 50% larger viewing area lets passengers, even in the available third row, enjoy a greater view of the sun and stars.

SmartKey with KEYLESS-START

Elegantly redesigned to be more sleek, stylish and compact in your pocket, the SmartKey remote control integrates remote door locks and trunk opener, and a remote panic alarm. You may selectively unlock only the driver's door and fuel filler, or all four doors plus the trunk and fuel filler. The vehicle can be started via a pushbutton in the dash, thanks to a standard KEYLESS-START feature.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. GUARD 360° security system

GUARD 360°^® offers enhanced vehicle security beyond the standard antitheft alarm. An innovative system can help detect if your parked vehicle experiences certain types of impacts that are likely to cause damage to it. The system can push a damage notification to your phone via the Mercedes me connect app, and can display a notification message the next time you start the car.

Rain-sensing windshield wipers

Rain-sensing windshield wipers can automatically adjust the intermittent wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 8 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then help alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.
