2.0L inline-4 turbo engine

The 188-hp 2.0L inline-4 engine combines turbocharging with numerous advances to deliver more power from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves in milliseconds. Its twin-scroll turbo and CAMTRONIC variable valve lift help keep all 221 lb-ft of torque on tap from just 1,600 rpm. Clever CONICSHAPE cylinders slash friction to help reduce wear and fuel consumption.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the touch of a button. Three modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop. A fourth "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting.

Front-wheel drive

The A-Class front-wheel drive system is an ideal match for its nimble handling and efficient packaging. Impeccable calibration of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Electronic Traction System (ETS) enhances tire bite under hard acceleration, while equal-length driveshafts virtually eliminate undesirable torque steer.

Selectable ECO, Sport and Comfort modes let you favor fully automatic efficiency and comfort, intensified response, or shift-for-yourself excitement via the steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

Power front seats with 3-position memory

Intuitive, seat-shaped controls help you find your ideal driving position with 12-way power adjustment, including 4-way power lumbar support. A memory system for each front seat recalls three stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power side mirror positions. Both front seats also feature adjustable cushion length, for optimal thigh support and added comfort.

40/20/40-split folding rear seats

The rear seatbacks fold down in a 40/20/40 split, offering a variety of cargo and passenger configurations. You can also fold the center section independently, to fit longer items like skis between two rear passengers. The release handles are in the trunk, so they're conveniently located where you'll need them, and can be kept out of reach simply by valet-locking the trunk.

Outside temperature display

A digital readout in the instrument cluster shows the outside temperature as measured by a sensor in the front of the vehicle. It's especially useful in helping you keep aware of temperatures that could cause the road surface to freeze.

Steering-wheel Touch Control Buttons

Innovative Touch Controls elevate the multifunction steering wheel to an unparalleled level of user-friendliness. In addition to fingertip buttons for features like audio, Bluetooth® and cruise control, smartphone-like pads offer direct control of nearly every cockpit feature. Swiping through menus is easy: Your left thumb operates the menu screen in the gauge cluster, and your right thumb controls the large central screen without taking your hands from the wheel's leather-wrapped rim.

SmartKey with KEYLESS-START

As rewarding as it is to have the key to an A-Class in your pocket or purse, you never need to take it out to start the car. Just step on the brake and push on the Start/Stop button on the dash, and you can be on your way.

Touchpad controller

A large touchpad controller on the console lets you operate the in-dash central touchscreen while your hand rests comfortably at your side. 8 air bags

An advanced system of 8 air bags offers 10-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags, and knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, plus side curtain air bags for both seating rows. Side-impact air bags are also standard for each outboard rear seating position.

Rearview camera

For a better view of what's behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera can display a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen can help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.

Blind Spot Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
